Perspectives on Contemporary Legend
The 41st Annual Conference of the International Society for Contemporary Legend Research
May 20 – 24, 2024
Utah State University, Logan, UT
Utah State University’s Folklore Program and the Fife Folklore Archives are thrilled to invite you to Logan, Utah, for a week of legend scholarship, legend tripping, amazing mountains, and collegiality. A block of rooms will be set aside at the University Inn on USU’s campus; a link will go out soon for those interested in reserving a room on campus. Logan also offers a number of other hotel and AirBnB options, as well as free public transportation. Those arriving by air will want to fly into Salt Lake City International Airport and, if not renting a car, will want to schedule transportation to Logan via the Salt Lake Express shuttle.
Submissions of 300-500 word abstracts that address topics of relevance to contemporary legend scholarship should be sent to Lynne McNeill at lynne.mcneill@usu.edu by the end of Leap Day (that’s Feb 29th, 2024).
Please note that this year’s meeting will not be streamed online. There will be a limited number of paper presentation slots that will be able to accommodate an off-site presenter, but full participation in the meeting itself will not be available virtually.
Follow the links below to access the meeting registration form and the ISCLR membership form. Please note that this year’s meeting registration fees of $175 (for ISCLR members) and $125 (for students and companions) include the costs of two excursions, light breakfasts on presentation days, and the society banquet on Thursday night. Please get in touch with Lynne McNeill at lynne.mcneill@usu.edu with any questions or concerns!
